In 2001 AFCO developed a fixed-base operation (FBO) at the Business Aviation Center at Pittsburgh International Airport. AFCO was selected to develop the fixed-base facility at the former terminal site at the Airport. AVPORTS operates the commercial general aviation hangars and the 10,000 square-foot terminal. The $12,000,000 facility was financed by AVPORTS and began operations in June 2001. In June 2000 AFCO sold its ownership interest in the project to AVPORTS.
The team of AFCO, led by Frank Chambers, and AVPORTS was selected by Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in 1997 to develop the FBO. AVPORTS of Teterboro, New Jersey, is one of the largest private airport, seaport and automotive processing facilities operators in the United States. AVPORTS purchased the AFCO interests in 2000.
The Airport is located 16 miles from downtown Pittsburgh and is easily accessible via State Route 60 and Business Route 60.
