AFCO signed a contract with Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, owner and operator of Pittsburgh International Airport, to manage and market the Air Cargo Complex at the Airport. The Air Cargo Complex includes three existing buildings. Building I includes 51,830 square feet of warehouse and 62,374 square feet of ramp and was constructed in 1968. Tenants include Airborne Express, United Airlines, the U.S. Postal Service as well as USAir. Building II, also constructed in 1968, includes 60,127 square feet of warehouse and 191,150 square feet of ramp, all occupied by Federal Express. Building III, constructed in 1989, includes 71,166 square feet of warehouse and 200,000 square feet of ramp. Aerolink, Eagle USA Air Freight and United Parcel Service are its tenants. AFCO has developed a two-year marketing plan to attract new domestic and international cargo business to the Airport.
There are two other sites on which AFCO plans to develop additional cargo buildings, ramp and parking space. One of these sites includes a 50-year old passenger terminal and ramp which were replaced in 1992 by a new terminal building. This redevelopment of the old terminal and ramp would provide an ideal location for a cargo warehouse or cargo hub for integrated carriers.
