AFCO has completed development of a 50,000 square-foot air cargo building at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). AFCO acquired the rights to develop on the building site in 1999 when AFCO acquired a leasehold on three existing cargo facilities at PIT that AFCO had been managing since 1995. AFCO continues to own and operate the three buildings, which total over 180,000 square feet of warehouse and over 450,000 square feet of apron. Air Ground Express executed a lease for 10,000 square feet of the new facility. On August 27th AFCO President Frank Chambers attended a grand opening ceremony for the facility held by the Allegheny County Airport Authority.
Construction of a second 50,000 square-foot facility is also planned. In addition to the four existing cargo facilities that AFCO manages and future development, AFCO also developed a 40,000 square-foot fixed-base operation facility at PIT in 2001.
