NEWS » AFCO begins construction of GSE FACILITY AT ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

AFCO commenced construction of a ground support equipment (GSE) maintenance facility at Orlando International Airport (OIA) in December 2006. AFCO teamed with the design/build firm The Haskell Group based in Jacksonville, Florida. The new facility will be the only purpose-built, multi-tenant GSE maintenance facility at OIA. The 30-year ground lease between AFCO and the Greater Orlando Airport Authority (GOAA) offers an ideal site location for state-of-the-art GSE maintenance operations, with an airside equipment staging area, complete with equipment wash rack facilities. Completion of the approximately 40,000 square-foot facility is expected in June 2007. Jim Norris, AFCO Vice President, Development, negotiated the terms of the ground lease with GOAA. AFCO also owns and operates a 50,000 square-foot office flex cargo facility at OIA. Frank Chambers, CEO of AFCO, said “We are very happy to be expanding our already excellent cargo facility relationship with GOAA. This is a new type of facility that GOAA has needed for a long time.”
