The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) Board has selected AFCO to develop Phase 1 of the Mississippi Air Cargo Logistics Center at Jackson International Airport. Under the terms of the 40-year ground lease, finalized on April 29th, AFCO will finance, develop, construct, manage and operate the new 40,000 square-foot air cargo facility.
The facility will be located on Highway 475 adjacent to JMAA’s newly completed 450,000 square-foot aircraft apron. Tthe new facility will be completed by October 2004. Additional team members include Fountain Construction, general contractor; Dean & Dean Architects, project architect; Waggoner Engineering, civil engineer; Andy Covington Engineering, electrical engineer; Scott C. Woods & Associates, mechanical engineer; Burns Cooley Dennis, geo-technical consultant; and Advance Environmental Consultants, environmental consultant. All companies are based in Jackson, Mississippi.
AFCO currently has subleases with BAX Global, Delta Airlines, Integrated Airline Services, Page & Jones, United Parcel Service, and the U.S. Customs Service. Two additional subleases with Menlo Worldwide and the U.S. Postal Service are expected shortly. Should there be a need for on-airport space, AFCO will have an additional 8,000 square feet of warehouse and approximately 900 square feet of full-service office space available in the new facility. Future developments of “build-to-suit” facilities up to 200,000 square feet are also available upon request.
