On November 10, 2008 Indy Park Ride & Fly hosted a grand opening of its new off-airport parking facilities at Indianapolis International Airport, Indiana. The event was attended by representatives of AFCO, Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, officials of Hendricks County and business leaders.
AFCO began construction of the parking facilities on 25 acres near the southwest corner of of the Airport in August 2008. The new parking facilities are located near the new airport terminal complex and entrance road, which were completed in early November 2008. The facility has a total of 2,310 parking spaces. Six Points Road Developers LLC (SPRD), a joint venture between AFCO and Airport Parking Management (APM), acquired 47 acres of land to develop the parking facilities in 2006. SPRD developed the parking facilities and will develop the remaining approximately 22 acres, which may include hotels, industrial/flex space, and retail or office buildings.
APM owned Indy Park Ride & Fly LLC (IPRF), a successful airport parking operation near the old airport terminal and entrance, for the past ten years. That operation has been relocated to the new site. APM previously teamed with AFCO for the development of off-airport parking facilities at Chicago Midway Airport.
