AFCO has finalized the purchase of Cargo Buildings B, C and F at the Air Cargo Complex (ACC) with the right to develop and operate the Midfield Cargo Complex (MCC) at Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) Airport. Major tenants include Delta Air Lines, Emery Air Freight, Federal Express, Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and the United States Postal Service. The first development in Phase I of the MCC area is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2001 and will include a minimum of a 60,000 square-foot cargo facility, 180,000 square feet of aircraft ramp/apron and associated truck/auto parking. The project will be phased with warehouse space expanding to 358,000 square feet, and ramp and additional parking space expanding to over 808,000 square feet. Construction of additional cargo facilities in Phase II of the MCC area is expected to commence during the fourth quarter of 2001 with a completion date during the third quarter of 2002.

In January of 1999 AFCO was notified by the Maryland Aviation Administration that AFCO’s proposal to design, construct, own, operate and maintain the Midfield Cargo Complex and to purchase, operate and maintain Cargo Buildings B, C & F at Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) had been accepted, subject to the Maryland Board of Public Works approval. AFCO has managed Cargo Building E at BWI since 1995 and that facility is 100% leased. AFCO will market and manage the new Midfield Cargo Complex and the four existing cargo buildings.
Federal Express, an AFCO tenant, is expected to move to the new Midfield Cargo Complex. Other potential tenants include Airborne Express, BAX Global and United Parcel Service.

Cargo Building B is approximately 44,000 square feet, Building C is approximately 43,000 square feet, and Building F is approximately 56,600 square feet. Existing tenants include Northwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, the United States Postal Service and Emery Worldwide.
