AFCO and the Albany County Airport Authority have opened a new air cargo facility at Albany County International Airport. The 60,000 square-foot office and warehouse building has 200,000 square feet of rentable apron for six aircraft positions. Construction of the building by the Airport Authority, based on plans developed by AFCO, began in January of 1998. Current tenants include Airborne Express, Federal Express and the United Parcel Service. 17,500 square feet remains available for leasing. AFCO is responsible for the leasing, managing and marketing of the facility. Future plans call for an expansion of the warehouse to 100,000 square feet with additional apron. An affiliate of AFCO entered into a 25-year Operating Agreement with the Albany County Airport Authority for the operation of the air cargo facility. The initial phase of the project cost approximately $11,000,000. Financing was obtained through the use of Airport Revenue Bonds issued by the Airport. The Airport is the sole provider of commercial air transportation serving the east central region of New York State, including the City of Albany, the Capital of the State of New York.
